Why does Pascal's Triangle work?

Pascal's triangle is just a part (to be more exact, a consequence) of the binomial theorem. The theorem is proved by mathematical induction (you can find that on Wikipedia or so; it's not convenient to write the proof here) and Pascal's triangle is constructed according to it.
