Why do so many people bash gay pride parades?

Gay pride is taken very well where I live, no-one publicly bashes or interrupts it - in fact a lot of people watch the parade in the city centre. I personally am not a fan of it, I don't get the appeal and I'm gay myself. I'm all for equality and rights and not being ashamed but pride parades just aren't my thing.
