I forgot to backup my iPhone 4?

Well, I was fixing my GF iPhone I was going to restore it to it's original settings. Problem is I forgot to backup the iPhone, last time she backed up her files was in April & she recently went on vacationn and lost all her photo's. Is there anyway possible to actuallyretrievee at least all the lost photo's other then older backups? Thank you! :)
